SelkerMetrics monitored a 1.2-acre canal in central New York City to identify the locations and rates of groundwater seeps discharging through the sediment into the waterway.
This project was part of a larger site characterization effort and used a fiber optic distributed temperature sensor to collect 1.5 million temperature measurements over several days. Data were analyzed through a suite of analytical methods to identify groundwater discharge locations.
Floating equipment platforms were utilized, with self-contained solar power units, so that on-shore access was not required. A new generation of SelkerMetrics equipment made for a smooth and efficient installation.
